Examiner feedback - research and planning


A2 – Research & planning: examiner feedback

·  Ensure ancillary products are researched in depth as much as the main project

·  Link the ancillary and main products in terms of concept, brand, look & feel

·  Show research on target audience & distribution

·  Make audience research relevant _ not just a random questionnaire

·  Apply knowledge from audience and industry research to the work itself _ real world context

·  Process of feedback & development _ from teacher & peers, for example video audience feedback, make notes from class feedback

·  Institutional research _ branding & distribution

·  Research REAL products _ actual magazines and CD covers, not cutting and copying from other student blogs

·  Consider relevance of marketing strategy eg. NME circulation now only 24,000

·  Don_t pick well known artists you really like _ tends to lead to derivative work and the artist / brand image are already too strong to reinvent
