Y13 PREPARATION - Research Qs:

Start your blog.  Take at least 5 pop videos from history and research / analyse the following questions.

Research Qs:

 ·        HISTORY: When was the video released? What else was happening at the time (socially, politically)?

·        CONTEXT: Why was it groundbreaking or unusual? What other videos were being released at the time?

·        ARTIST: Background on the artist(s)

·        OWNERSHIP: Record label? owned by? background of label?

·        CONCEPT: What is the essential concept / main idea of the video? 

·        THEME: Is there a central theme?

·        LOCATION: Where is it shot?

·        DIRECTION: What camera angles are used and why? How is it lit?

·        EDITING: How many edits are in the video? are they in time to the music? Why are the edits used?

·        ART DIRECTION / STYLING: what costumes, set, props, make up are used and why?

·        POST PRODUCTION / SPECIAL EFFECTS: Any special effects created either on location or in post production?  Any text used? Animation?

·        REPRESENTATION: How are men, women, children, ethnic groups, people with disabilities represented, if at all? What stereotypes are being used or challenged?
